About Us
Heather Lucas, MA, CCC-SLP has a wide range of experience with diagnosing and treating speech and language disorders in individuals birth through 99 years of age. Heather received her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of California, Berkeley and a Master’s in Hearing and Speech Sciences from University of Maryland, College Park. She has lived in Bethesda for 15 years with her husband and has 4 school age children. One of her sons, Aidan, is a successful user of bilateral cochlear implants.
Heather has extensive experience with cochlear implants, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, genetic disorders and pediatric language and learning impairments. She is trained in both high and low-tech alternative and augmentative communication. Heather was previously on staff in the Preschool Education Program in the public schools and is the volunteer Special Needs Chair at Bradley Hills Elementary School. She is a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association and Maryland Speech and Hearing Association.
Barbara Correira, MA, CCC-SLP has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of complex speech and language disorders across the lifespan. Barbara received a Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Saint John’s University, Jamaica, New York and a Master’s degree in Hearing and Speech Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland. She is a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
Barbara’s clinical experience has included treatment of a wide range of disorders and severity levels. Clinical populations served includes: articulation disorders, specific-language impairment, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, neurological disorders, genetic disorders, traumatic brain injury, Cortical Visual Impairment, and hearing impairment. Barbara has experience using alternative and augmentative communication systems and working with children with multiple disabilities.
